Love water polo? Here’s a chance to meet some of the sport’s best athletes in Mission Viejo.
On Saturday, members of the USA Water Polo team will visit The Shops at Mission Viejo to sign autographs and have their photos taken.
Here’s who will be there:
- Lauren Wenger: From Long Beach, Wenger helped her team take silver at the Water Polo World Championship in 2005. In the 2008 China Summer Olympics, Wenger’s team won silver medals after an 8-9 loss to the Netherlands.
- Shea Buckner: In 2008, Buckner led USC to an undefeated season (29-0). This Huntington Beach native scored four goals for Team USA during the 2011 FINA World Championships.
- Tony Azevedo: Azevedo was a four-time college player of the year, scoring a record 332 goals for Stanford over his college career. In 2003, Men’s Journal named him the world’s seventh-greatest athlete. He was also named the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Player of the Year.
Mission Viejo isn’t the only place to spot top water polo athletes Saturday. Several other malls around Southern California will play host to the players:
